The hearts of Busan students were filled with happiness through the 2020 Online Youth Camp (hereinafter referred to as the Student Camp) held from August 7 (Fri) to 10 (Mon). This camp, which received 2,165 students from Busan, revealed and connected the hearts of students who had collapsed due to Corona 19 through various and informative programs. In particular, the students who heard the news of the camp directly invited their friends around and participated in the program together, and were able to experience double happiness by sharing joy with their friends.
▎ Students’ shoulders are shaken by a variety of programs.
The morning program of this student camp was operated by the same program in all regions, but the afternoon program was operated differently by region. In the Busan area, various programs such as △Zoom-in (Zoom Escape) prepared by Good News Co. alumni, △, △Line Bell, △Scavenger Hunt (to Busan), etc. I enjoyed it.
Scavenger Hunt (to Busan), held on the second day of the camp, is an online cooperative survival game set to find a vaccine for the zombie virus. Students who participated in this game were able to strengthen their sense of cooperation and interact naturally by completing the given missions step by step with team members.
“This is the first time I participated in the student camp, and it was burdensome to be the team leader, but it was really fun to get acquainted with people I saw for the first time through Zoom and solving the game together. I also opened my heart to seeing how they collaborated together. There were many competitors during the Scavenger Hunt, but I was able to cooperate with the team members to win first place. Next, on the third day of the camp, “Who am I”, which was conducted on the third day of the camp, is an adaptation of the existing MBTI personality type test program to the level of middle and high school students. In this program, a short conte video that shows the behavior differently depending on the personality type in the same situation was shown, raising the interest of the students, while allowing the students to easily grasp their personality type. After the students grasped their personality type, they formed a group with students of the same type to discuss the topic of’Three Items I Want to Take to the Uninhabited Island’, and the representatives of each group had time to present the discussion.
“When I first said that I was doing MBTI, each person has a different personality, so I wondered if this was correct and I didn’t have a lot of trust. However, as I followed the program, it was amazing to see the results that really fit my personality. The moderator gave me an explanation that fits my personality, telling me which things I should be more interested in and what parts of my personality should be supplemented. I felt that I should not ignore them just because they are different from me, but that their hearts should flow as they match each other’s hearts. In the afternoon of the third day, a’line bell’ was held following <“Who am I” by MBTI. This is an upgraded version of Golden Bell, which complements and improves the existing Golden Bell to meet the characteristics of online.
“When I tried to run the Golden Bell online, there were a lot of restrictions. ‘How can I make a Golden Bell where everyone can participate happily without being marginalized?’ Thoughtful, I encountered many problems. However, when I continued to prepare with the mind of’I have to do this,’ I could see a path open in a good direction and I was able to make a line bell, an upgraded version of the Golden Bell. Students who had been exhausted from the academic competition for a while, escaped from the competitive structure through the linebell, and was happy to solve problems with a light heart.
“The linebell game is new and interesting that you don’t have to compete as a team or individual, and you can score multiple people by completing the quiz yourself. Also, the quiz was a content that could be easily matched by listening to a lecture by a celebrity, and it was fun because there was a nonsense problem. Problems with the Bible were a little difficult because I didn’t know much about the Bible, but I think it was good because there were problems that could be enjoyed easily, such as matching the capital name by looking at the beginning of the middle and following the famous lines. ▎ Happiness that comes when we are together
The reason this student camp was happier and more vibrant than ever was because students and teachers who first heard the news delivered the camp news and invited them. The students opened their minds during the four-day afternoon program, mind lecture, and invited celebrities, and had time to share their hearts and escape from the isolated mind.
“After hearing the news of the student camp, the academy invited five students I teach. I also participated in the program with the students and I was really happy to see them actively participate. The students said they liked the program and invited their friends. There are 12 children who applied for this camp. At the end of the camp, there were children who were disappointed that they couldn’t get the goods, while others were rushing to see if they wanted to do more, so I introduced the online Inseong Camp that will be held next week in Busan. “I have been attending student camps hosted by IYF since I was a middle school student. When I heard the news that the student camp is going online this time due to the coronavirus, I didn’t intend to invite my friends to this camp at first, but I thought that if I camp online, my friends will be able to participate more easily and freely than offline. ▎ “I got a change of mind through the mind lecture.”
As the main lecturers for this Camp Mind Lecture, Education Commissioner Oh Young-shin (High School) and Education Commissioner Jang Joo-Hyun (Middle School) delivered a message, and on the evening of the 9th (Sun), Pastor Ock Soo Park delivered a message to all participants as a special lecturer.

“Before attending the camp, I was having a hard time condemning myself as I saw myself not improving my grades even though I studied hard. However, listening to the Mind Lecture by Education Commissioner Oh Young-shin, the main instructor of the camp, gave me strength in my heart. The Board of Education said,’The change from the age of people working to the age of machines working is called the industrial revolution. Likewise, humans have a revolution. When it changes from the age of human working to the age of God working, it is called human revolution.’ As I listened to this, I saw myself failing so far and thought,’I shouldn’t have dreams. Starting from this student camp, the hearts of the students who are on vacation are full of happiness and thanksgiving unlike other times. The experiences gained by sharing and interacting with friends through the camp changed the hearts of students living around the walls with gratitude.
